It's really disturbing to think about what conservatives could do with a comprehensive list of trans people in their state.

Aleksandra Vaca's avatar

That's why this is so terrifying. Whatever reasons they have for making these lists, they can't be good.

At least 3 cases of Florida reissuing trans drivers licenses? I can find 3 friends I personally know in my area who've had their licenses changed to aline with birth sex. I'm included in that list. I'd say it's Florida policy at this point to revoked any they find.

Oh, absolutely. I’m saying 3 confirmed, public cases that have shared what Florida told them in their letters. Would you mind DMing me a few details surrounding this?

I live in California but my heart breaks for my trans siblings in red states. There is absolutely no reason for any of this. We just want to live.

So grateful for your reporting on this. Your coverage deserves a wider distribution.

I hope I get that eventually, but to be honest, I’ve been overwhelmed the support I’ve received already! It’s so far beyond what I thought I’d accomplish, and I’m so grateful. Thank you so much for your kind words <3

I'll save you the trouble of trying to figure out if I am trans. https://clararies.substack.com/p/letter-to-my-house-representative

It is shit like this from the state of texas that caused me to tell my mom that she would never ever see her granddaughter again. We will NEVER step foot in that wretched place where her right to identify as she wants would constantly put her in danger - even if everything were to go back "to normal" I wouldn't let her go. Even if a trans woman were elected as governor, I wouldn't let her go. That state is full of vile, evil, depraved people who can't seem to mind their own business.

Paxton ever hear of a HIPPA violation? Why is he not in prison?

Just letting you know your Kansas information is outdated. The Kansas supreme court ruled in October that transgender residents can once again change the sex marker on their documents.

Yes, for driver’s licenses/IDs. The birth certificates part of the law was never challenged and thus remains in effect.

In fact, the law itself (SB 180) was never actually challenged. The lawsuit that resulted in that ruling was over whether or not SB 180 also required the Kansas DOR to ban ID changes in the first place.

In 2023, Missouri’s AG made a website for people to report people doing “transgender activities”. Of course it got flooded with memes and the website got taken down, but that was when the alarm bells started going off in my head and didn’t feel safe living in my home state anymore. I decided to move to Illinois for my safety later that year.

110 names in all of Texas. That’s the magnitude of this crisis that takes precedent over global warming, the collapsing economy, the erosion of privacy, the loss of accessible social spaces, the opioid crisis, homelessness, and every other crisis that plagues this nation. 110 names.

Aleksandra Vaca's avatar

Respectfully, it’s not about the 110 names but about the fact that a state is actively attempting to track the trans people that live in it. It’s part of the third thing you mentioned: the erosion of privacy. Trans people shouldn’t be tracked by the federal government, nor should we be forced to disclose our trans status at every turn.

I think you took me for an anti-trans commenter, sorry.

my point is that trans people are such a small number of people that even if we all were bank robbers it still wouldn’t be worth making it GOP priority #1.

Aleksandra Vaca's avatar

Oh that was my mistake; force of habit I guess...

I 100% agree—we're such a small percentage of the population and the country has so many issues. The GOP makes us a priority because of those two things: being so few means few understand us, and also because their solutions to the country's many issues are quite frankly, stupid.
