Under a new rule, the State Department will be able to revoke trans people's visas over "misrepresentation." It'll give ICE grounds to suspect all trans people of being in the US illegally.
Headline shot my anxiety straight up. I’m already a target for ICE, and I started transitioning last month. Still, I don’t plan on stopping. Stay safe everyone…
Can we call ‘protectors of pedophiles’ something like “poppers” or “pops” as a slur? Most of them are older men who probably get called pops a lot anyway, so it would be a way to attack them without being obvious….
Stay strong, these f’ers have their Karma coming. The more they focus on the trans community to try to culture war their evil out of the public purview, the worst it looks on them.
They’ve already arrested children of suspected illegal immigrants. I wouldn’t be surprised if they say if the great grandparents of your great grandparents weren’t born here, you’re an immigrant and you will be sent back to where you came from the most, based on your ancestry.
Yet the majority of the USA are migrants as at 500 years ago. You’re almost all the children of colonisers, invaders & slavers (or the servants of them), so there’s a heightened chance no one is safe.
No is safe. The hypocrisy is blatant. Ice is detaining native Americans I find that partilarly appalling. If I remember something from one of orwells books 1984 or animal farm, the indigenous people were separated from the rest and living in reservations.
I don’t think they need to do this formally. What they’ve done instead is gut equal protection and their goal is to make trans people, as trans people, legally stateless , while claiming trans people can be citizens only as the gender the regime declares , with no right to autonomy at all. Formally we remain citizens; in effect we are not. I am working on an essay on this but I think this is the goal.
I'm replying to your comment and subscribed to your substack because I'm super interested in hearing more of your take on this topic, and I would really love to see this essay if/when you finish it
I have no doubt of that unfortunately and when that happens, there will be a lot of countries that are opened up for people who have to move. And then you're going to have sis people saying that they're trans just so they can have a reason to get the hell out of here. No one likes to be forced however to leave their own country. It's just horrible.
By the 14th Amendment, I don’t think it would stand up in court. That doesn’t mean his crooked political appointees won’t try, but I can!t see how such a plan won’t fail. More threatening tough is the implied acceptance of violence against trans people from agencies empowered to arrest them to begin with. If they survive arrest they might have a chance.
Who the hell knows with this Supreme Court. There's a lot of things they're doing that if they were following, the constitution would not stand up in court yet they're doing it.
Because they are trying to suppress the lurid, guilty fantasies the concept of being transgender stirs in them, an outgrowth of our on-going, Puritanical, gross immaturity about anything even remotely related to sex or sexuality.
its cause they want to paint them the bad guys as trump has been listed in the Epstien files more than Jesus in the bible. (i believe don't quote me on that)
When I first started reading this, I was like well this sucks but it doesn’t apply to me (obviously we still need to do something about it but, every time something like this comes out I weigh whether it is go bag time or not or if I can keep working on my safer plan to get out). It only applies to foreigners. But then I remembered I live in Minneapolis and have seen how ice has treated native born citizens who look like they could possibly be foreign………
This is horrifying! State by state and now nationally sanctioned versus just done ad hock style. The vigilantes who are paid and “trained”(ICE) will continue to collaborate with their volunteers no doubt. I had it when what I predict will happen and straight people tell me I am being paranoid about comes true
Does anyone know about state legislation happening to prevent this and provide more protection? I want to share this with my immediate community in Boston but I need to send out information with actions at least legislatively that people can take
The problem is that these are federal officers. State law can only do so much to protect against them; for trans people, one way that can help is easier access to accurate documents (which almost every blue state is pretty good about), but unfortunately red states are also moving in the opposite direction on this.
Thanks, I know it’s federal which makes it even worse - even though Massachusetts is good we can always do better so I will look into what’s being done to increase local protections as at least a small force
MN here. I know that Gender Justice is advocating for a state ERA: "On Monday, February 23, the Minnesota Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is getting a state Senate hearing." Also, there was a rally for it at the state capitol in St Paul this morning (wasn't able to go tho). We want to enshrine the ERA in the MN constitution.
That entirely depends on which state you reside in. I would look into that info with your own state. A great start is to check the media availability of your elected officials
So that could lead to a couple more steps that are devastating 1) revoking their Social Security Medicaid Medicare and 2)revoking any public housing assistance as they’ve already done away with drivers licenses in Kansas who’s to say they won’t go down that road state after state, including at the federal level. International travel will become impossible. Follow that up with interstate travel. Follow that up with hospital emergency room visits employment housing ——disgusting what they’re doing.
shit like this terrifies me. trans people are people. end of the story. i wish we would be treated like humans but we are not. its not hard to do. just stay safe, stay educated, and know your rights.
OMG. I was depressed enough after reading about the 4th CCoA effectively expanding the Skrmetti decision (saying states can ban GAC for youth) to include adults - while declaring a state can "encourage citizens to appreciate their sex."
That is exactly how this works — one ruling, one policy, one “narrow” exception at a time until the logic spreads much farther than they first admitted.
It wears people down on purpose, which is why naming the pattern matters so much.
Mark my words, next they will try to mark any trans citizens as non-citizens. This is what they were always moving towards. Any perceived "undesirables" will be marked as "illegal aliens" and they will be treated accordingly.
They were always going in this direction. The in-group will only shrink, and the number of people they target will only grow.
Headline shot my anxiety straight up. I’m already a target for ICE, and I started transitioning last month. Still, I don’t plan on stopping. Stay safe everyone…
I am so sorry. We will get through this, we CANNOT let the pedophiles and protectors of pedophiles win!!!
Can we call ‘protectors of pedophiles’ something like “poppers” or “pops” as a slur? Most of them are older men who probably get called pops a lot anyway, so it would be a way to attack them without being obvious….
I sort of prefer pedo as far as I am concerned it is a slur, like calling a bigot a racist.
Spreading it.
YES! Love it!
poppers has another meaning you should google
I know about recreational poppers, lol. You think boomers do tho?
You too Nam myho renge kyo
That fear is real, and continuing anyway is its own kind of courage.
You should never have been put in a position where becoming more yourself also makes you more vulnerable to the state.
I don't know you, but good luck with everything…take care and stay safe
Thank you hun ☺️ luckily I was born a US citizen, but that won’t stop these fools if I happen to run into them.
Stay strong, these f’ers have their Karma coming. The more they focus on the trans community to try to culture war their evil out of the public purview, the worst it looks on them.
This is the kind of response people need right now.
So much of survival starts with being met by love instead of suspicion.
I fear that not too long from now it won't be outside the realm of possibility for the Trump regime to revoke citizenship from all trans people.
This.

We have to be ready for that possibility.
That fear is not irrational when the pattern is already moving in that direction.
Once the state starts treating trans existence as fraud or threat, the line between harassment and dispossession gets dangerously thin.
This will not be limited to immigrants, It will also be applied to trans US citizens returning to the US from travel.
That is the danger of opening the door this way.
Once trans existence is treated as suspicion on paper, it never stays neatly contained to the category they started with.
Why is our government so obsessed with the genitals of strangers?
Because they are trying to suppress the lurid, guilty fantasies the concept of being transgender stirs in them, an outgrowth of our on-going, Puritanical, gross immaturity about anything even remotely related to sex or sexuality.
That's a them problem, not an us problem.
Um.... Yeah, that was kinda the point....
They are making it our problem with these rulings.
its cause they want to paint them the bad guys as trump has been listed in the Epstien files more than Jesus in the bible. (i believe don't quote me on that)
Accurate
Because control is the point.
They call it policy, but it is really an obsession with policing who gets to exist without scrutiny.
This is a blatant and clear violation of human rights in PLAIN SIGHT.
They are evil and emboldened.
They are acting like people who believe they will face no consequences.
That kind of impunity is exactly what makes this so dangerous.
It is — and the most dangerous part is how openly they expect people to accept it.
When a rights violation is made this visible, they are testing not just power, but public tolerance for cruelty.
So the proud boys are going to do gender profiling? 🤯
That is exactly the road this points toward.
Once “fraud” or “suspicion” becomes the frame, profiling gets laundered into enforcement.
When I first started reading this, I was like well this sucks but it doesn’t apply to me (obviously we still need to do something about it but, every time something like this comes out I weigh whether it is go bag time or not or if I can keep working on my safer plan to get out). That is how it keeps spreading — people think it stops with someone else until the logic underneath it grows.
Once the state gives itself permission to target one group this way, the boundary around who counts as “safe” gets thinner for everyone.
This is horrifying! State by state and now nationally sanctioned versus just done ad hock style. The vigilantes who are paid and “trained”(ICE) will continue to collaborate with their volunteers no doubt. We have always been here. We will always be here. We will survive this! We must!
Transgender Americans are in my thoughts. I want to find a way to help you guys from my own country. I love you all.

And now this. It has been a bad day.
That is exactly how this works — one ruling, one policy, one “narrow” exception at a time until the logic spreads much farther than they first admitted.
It wears people down on purpose, which is why naming the pattern matters so much.
Stay strong! This just keeps us sliding down the slippery slope. Those concentration camps aren’t for undocumented people.
That is the warning.
People keep pretending these systems will stay neatly contained, when history shows they expand the moment the public accepts the premise.
Mark my words, next they will try to mark any trans citizens as non-citizens. This is what they were always moving towards. Any perceived "undesirables" will be marked as "illegal aliens" and they will be treated accordingly.
