Despite his ostensibly progressive politics and vocal LGBTQ+ allyship, Graham Platner was unfit for office long before the latest allegations. Why did it take so long to finally draw the line?
Oh yeah. Blackwater. He spent time in Abu Ghraib. Had Blackwater paraphernalia in his home. Bro should’ve been rejected by the left last October. I did and I’ve only sat back and see the American left throw everything away for another white man
We need average people to get elected and never elect the same person twice ever. If you have a million dollar net worth you have no idea how a person lives. If you make 6 figure salary you have no idea how a person lives. We elect the same people too many times. I’m amazed to this day people vote for millionaires and expect them to pass laws that benefit average people. I would rather elect young people in their 30’s than any other age group cause that is the real backbone. You can’t expect old money or rich people to work for people and we still haven’t learned.
"I could see why: outside of controversies, he was saying all the right things. He was highly vocal in his support for the LGBTQ+ community and especially vulnerable trans kids. He opposed Trump’s weaponization of ICE. He supported Ukraine. He opposed AIPAC and labeled Israel’s actions in Gaza a genocide. He called US billionaires ‘oligarchs.’ And he championed labor unions."
Let's make one thing clear: I listed these things because I agree with them. I hate AIPAC and think they're a stain on our country. Now, if you want to say that I'm an AIPAC agent because I'm calling a spade a spade by saying that a politician who is CLEARLY a bad person is a bad person, then that reflects on your character. Now, instead of dismissing all criticism of a guy you support by branding everyone who disagrees with you an 'AIPAC agent,' actually refute it and offer up your evidence.
Or else you are no better than those on the right who say everything they disagree with is "fake news."
Recognizing dude is toxic is apparently AIPAC. American left showing its ass that antiimperialism and intersectionality doesn’t matter as long as you get free healthcare
You forget Mark Robinson's 2024 gubernatorial campaign: after the CNN report dropped (which itself is like the funniest scandal in American history), he started campaigning with a cardboard cutout of Trump lmfao
Regardless of what Platner decides, I see a ray of sunshine within this particular storm cloud.
Take a look at the most popular political figures in the country right now.
Top 6 most popular are liberal Democrats, or Democratic socialists. No centrist Democrats, no Republicans of any kind.
Platner may not appear on this list, but his platform does….at the top. Mainers knew from the beginning that his character was in question, but his platform is why he won his primary, personal issues notwithstanding.
I find that hopeful. The DemSoc movement is exploding, and the GOP knows it.
They are Trump's ‘Communists’. Why else would he and the GOP suddenly start banging this particular drum so loudly and so often?
AOC is 6th most popular, nearly tied with the top Republican, Rubio, and Kamala Harris.
You'll also notice how few straight white men there are in the top third of this list. And Rubio, a POC and son of immigrants, has the third highest 'don't know' percentages of the 7 Republicans mentioned by name….but still ranks higher than the rest.
Vance and Trump are tied, BEHIND the Republican party….and way behind Jon Ossof at #5, even though 55% of respondents admitted they knew nothing about him!!
AND they're both also ranked behind Gavin Newsom. Musk ranks even lower.
Tucker Carlson, who's been tagged as the Great White Hope of Republicans in 2028 barely made the list, and look at the percentages of people that don't know anything about him compared to the same number for AOC....and then see the wide disparity in their rankings.
Yikes, that does not speak well of Carlson and where he ranks with the people that DO know him. Conversely, it speaks well of the Democratic socialist platform that AOC, with nearly the same recognition percentage, ranks so close to the top
Added to this, the non-partisan platform http://vote.org/ reports record-breaking voter registration in the first half of 2026.
38% of those who used the platform to register, so far this year were 18-years-old, and nearly 80% were under the age of 35.
Who do you think these new young voters are going to support?
No wonder Republicans are trotting out that old dead horse of McCarthyism.
They have nothing else to offer.
And look where Dem party leaders appear on the list. They also have nothing to offer, but folks seem to recognize who does, and they're still Democrats.
As an interesting side note...my mom, a three time Trump voter....loved Bernie Sanders in 2016.
Mayor Pete can join plattner.. As a member of the trans community he keeps using the dehumanizing language that the right wing does. And I am just waiting on the day when he says Yeah I'm gay but I'm not queer because when he does he will finally show his true colors.. white gay men are not on our side..
Also can't help but notice in that graph that I see Gavin newsom is where he down with the rest of the Republicans.. advised by his Republican ex, posted Charlie Kirk as his first guest on his podcast (May he forever rest in piss), shits on trans people, women of menopausal age, and unhoused people.. sounds pretty Republican to me.
Him choosing to work for blackwater in 2018 should’ve immediately disqualified him and brought about serious public condemnation from the left.
He worked for Blackwater? Fuck. I was already not in his camp but goddamn.
Oh yeah. Blackwater. He spent time in Abu Ghraib. Had Blackwater paraphernalia in his home. Bro should’ve been rejected by the left last October. I did and I’ve only sat back and see the American left throw everything away for another white man
Dsa is the new dem, which was always left-leaning center
If he truly cares about this country he will step down from his campaign Now.
If you mean Ally in the way that Black people use it--as a slur--then yeah he's an ally..
It's obvious he doesn't respect women, therefore there's no way the misogyny he holds doesn't translate into harmful for us in the trans community.
It shouldn’t be hard to find someone who holds the same values in a place like Maine, no?

Yes, you are an aipac agent; yes that means i will still mute you
