Thank you for reporting on issues affecting transgender prison inmates, Aleksandra! Before I left the country, my most horrifying recurring nightmare was that of being incarcerated in a men's prison for doing absolutely nothing wrong. It was one of my greatest fears and one of the important factors underlying my decision to leave.

Sexuality is a spectrum, not a given.

Every person born produces both male a d female hormones. How you develop isn't a choice.

Mister Galen's avatar

Trans women (at least those with hormonal and surgical treatment) commit the same rates of crime and the same types of crime had they remained male. This is a problem for safety in women’s prisons, and you’re wrong to ignore the science.

What’s your source on this?

Mister Galen's avatar

Well, besides the fact such a condition is just intuitively obvious:

The WPATH file revelations, while not directly related to this topic, provides all the evidence anyone needs to see that trans medical advocacy is infected with activism, which is a shame.

I’ll address your first point: that statistic ignores trans women with gender recognition certificates, which makes the point about overrepresentation completely irrelevant as it only includes a subset of the population. That’s on top of you presenting a pretty biased source.

But we do agree on one thing: trans women who are ASSESSED to present a danger to cis women should not be housed with them. Or with men. They should be housed with each other like they are in Colorado.

What I am vehemently against is housing trans women with men as a rule. That is wrong. It puts them in danger. There is no basis for it. And for the record, even the states with the most progressive policies still evaluate trans people before sending them to housing that aligns with their gender identity. I should know; I’ve read all of them.

As for your last point: you’re wrong. What is ‘infected with advocacy’ is so-called ‘gender-critical’ activism. They claim to know better than science and doctors, and because of their bullshit, I almost lost my life. That is the shame.

Mister Galen's avatar

I’ll grant you almost all of what you said, especially since your solutions don’t run counter to any of the “bias” research I pointed out. That also means that you would not categorize trans women as women, but “trans women”?

The WPATH files showed evidence of activists completely overriding valid research that ran against their confused ideology—to the point that the researcher didn’t speak. I read the supreme court verdict in its entirety, and they made the right choice. I mean, you can say “you’re wrong” all day. I read the 30 page document with discovery in it. Not a good look for an objective organization that advises policy for medical procedures.

I believe trans women in prisons have unique circumstances that warrant specific considerations, absolutely. And I’d categorize trans women as a subset of women.

Re WPATH: so, if they have been overrun by activists, what do you propose? Opponent organizations like Do No Harm, Genspect, and the Society for Evidence-based Gender Medicine were founded with the explicit goal of being political. Virtually every person who promotes this discourse so far has pushed these organizations as the alternative, which I find hypocritical and quite frankly disqualifying.

Should trans men be in men’s prisons?

Ma’am, I have a trans person in my very near orbit, so I do have a stake in this. I don’t have a good answer, but I don’t think organizations that deny the existence of trans people should be making policy regarding their daily lives. But then, I don’t think anyone should; I’m a socialist. I think the treatment that transsexuals went through before we started just accepting what people say they are was the best (flawed) way to address gender dysphoria.

Another aspect of this conversation that gets ignored is the uneven and different conditions for trans men to come out and trans women. There is clearly less abuse on the side of trans men—far less. Some men have identified a way for them to make unfair gains out of the current accepted way we allow people to identify. Trans men don’t really get those bonuses, which is why the conversation almost entirely about trans women.

Infected with activism? Activism is how things are accomplished. Would you prefer sit around and do nothingism?

Mister Galen's avatar

Nobody should want an organization that dictates policy for medical procedures overrun with activism. Activists aren’t scientists.

V coding.

You are literally forcing trans women to be rewards for violent men. You're wrong full stop

Mister Galen's avatar

I’m not literally doing anything. Nobody can.

Sarah F's avatar

You're arguing aggressively that convicted trans women should go to men's prisons. That is your agenda. It is your political cause that I've seen you argue before. And your agenda is being implemented because of pressure from people like you. I don't think anyone is suggesting that you are doing this alone. This sort of tyranny comes from the entire mob that is in power (which includes you, at least on this issue).

Mister Galen's avatar

The only person who is being aggressive is you. I don’t have any secret body of people behind me, conspiring against trans people. The hyperbolic rhetoric about “tyranny” is just a way to shut down the conversation, which has been polite between me and the author of the article in question. You are a cry bully.

Sarah F's avatar

You misunderstand what I wrote: You are a MEMBER of that body conspiring against trans people. You are an anti-trans activist. I've seen you around. You're always posting the same sorts of things.

Whether you want to describe me as a bully is up to you. It makes no difference to me. At my age, and at this late date in the global campaign against trans people (mostly started in YOUR country, BTW), I'm simply tired of being patient with people who show me no respect. My patience is finite, you know, and it often ends with "dude."

Facts please. Can't fix stupid

Mister Galen's avatar

Read, Lucie. Can’t fix lazy

Sarah F's avatar

So, you're saying that a post-surgical trans woman, with no penis, can still rape a woman in exactly the same way as prior to transition and surgery? Sure. Makes perfect sense. You people like to yammer about "common sense." Well?

Mister, if you're truly concerned with the rape of women in women's prisons, I suggest you turn your attention instead to the male guards.

Amy Jackson's avatar

Shut up, ignorant liar. You have no idea what you are even talking about and make no sense. If someone steals your car as a “man”, but transitions before getting caught, why would they be a “danger” to other women in prison? And what kind of women do you imagine are in prison? Maybe you should meet some. They could teach your whiny, pasty, little ass some lessons.

Prove that any violent, raping man transitioned surgically to female so they can get arrested and be put in a womens’ prison so they can attack women (despite no longer even having a penis). Find one VERIFIED, TRUSTWORTHY source.

Mister Galen's avatar

lol, dude this rage is incomprehensible. Go read the science, Amy.

Sarah F's avatar

Perhaps you can cite some "science" that shows how trans women with no penises rape women with imaginary penises. Amy's demand, although aggressively put, is a reasonable one. If you say this imaginary thing can happen, please provide your sources. (I presume they would come from the "paranormal" literature - "ghost of penis past" sorts of claims.)

Amy Jackson's avatar

Nothing you post has the faintest resemblance to “science”. You are an incompetent moron.
