Thank you for some super good news and making my night. Did any of the key bills lapse? I called on a campaign that had a long list of LGBTQ+ bills we wanted signed so can't remember.

The one allowing trans people to request a year-long supply of hormones got vetoed. The veto wasn’t about the care itself, but you can read Newsom’s explanation here:

Thank you Aleksandra - it is disheartening that this one was rejected. At the moment we can only pick up a 3 month supply of hormones. I don't see how picking up a year supply would drive up costs at all. Most of us are on hormones for life so I am seriously missing where the cost increase would come in. It does still seem like politics.

Newsom has been known to veto any bills that will drive up costs, no matter how small the increase. I’m not arguing one way or the other, just throwing that out there.

Oh yah, you are good girl. I meant that I don't see how he is arguing that - I'm happy with the overall outcome - just this one would have actually been practically useful for us especially if there is a national ban which would give us a year rather than 3 months to figure out what to do.

So if the legislature fixes so it doesn’t drive up costs, he might sign it?

I still don't trust Newsome to do right by trans people, but glad to hear he actually came through this time

We fought hard calling and calling and calling. I think it matters (hard to definitely tell 😉)

Yes, I believe it does! I bug the hell out of my reps.

Awesome! Maybe I should stop tagging every one of his posts with Fuck You transphobe? Hmm. I’ll consider it.
