Transitics has uncovered that Texas quietly rescinded its policy allowing trans prisoners to access gender-affirming care. Over 1,100 trans people are at risk of facing a forced detransition.
Thank you for breaking such horrific news. I interviewed formerly incarcerated trans folks in college after in high school, I lost a transmasculine friend who was in juvie and mentally ill, not thoroughly observed nor treated, and housed with the girls. The conditions are horrific. I heard a lot of terrifying stories, and I could I think share my final paper on it with you if useful (I declined by sociology professor's ask to publish it, because I didn't think he cared for the people involved so much as the career points)

I work with Trans Pride Initiative and we do a lot of work with folks in TDCJ (https://tpride.org/projects_prisondata/index.php), but I’ve had health issues the last month, so have had to step back and didn’t know about this. It is interesting that I’ve not received one letter from a person inside on this yet, but we have had increasing problems with correspondence interference lately. Wouldn’t surprise me if they had pulled any letters or messages to us about it.
That would make a lot of sense and it definitely checks out with Texas’ MO. Overall the policy implementation seems extremely sketchy an interfering with communications is probably part of that. I’m not exactly sure what the timeframe on the rollout for this will be, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear more reports about people losing their healthcare in the coming months…

Ken Paxton must be held accountable for the cruelty and genocide of trans people he is overseeing as Texas AG.
